Description
Imperial German, Pre-1897 Minty Artillery or Pioneer Officer’s Visor Cap from the Grand Duchy of Baden. It features a wide black trim band measuring 1.25” Correct State Cockade is present, the Reich Cockade was not authorized until 1897. Based on the small visor and State Cockade this Visor Cap was in service after the Franco-Prussian War. This is a very high quality visor cap in minty condition. There is also a Bavarian makers mark on the inside as well as a faint signature of the original owner ( see photo’s ). Imperial Germany was a federation of twenty-seven kingdoms, duchies, principalities and "free and imperial cities". By far the largest of these components was Prussia, whose King also bore the title of German emperor.I currently have a similar WW1 Minty Prussian Officers Visor Cap from Artillery or Pioneer Regiments that would make an interesting display combined with this Cap.
