    Description

Imperial German, Great War, Minty, VERY RARE Braunschweig Infantry Officer’s Feldgrau Visor Cap. The Duchy of Braunschweig contributed only a handful of Infantry Regiments to the Imperial German Army. The Cap is made of Feldgrau Wool, with a bright red band that measures 1.75” in width. One very thin bright red piping band encircles the top of the cap. The correct Braunschweig State Officer’s and Reich Kokarden decorate the Caps front center along with the skull and crossed bones for the Duchy. The Caps interior is shows a bit of use but is complete. The only flaws are a couple of moth nips ( pictured ). This Cap is extremely rare from a small Duchy whose Duke Ernest Augustus was married to the Kaiser’s only daughter. Germany was a federation of twenty-seven kingdoms, duchies, principalities and "free and imperial cities". By far the largest of these components was Prussia, whose King also bore the title of German emperor.
Most Uniform Items from this period have some degree of moth tracks. This cap does have a couple detectable moth tracks.
The Officer’s Belt shown is NOT included in this sale, it is listed separately.
