After the Navajo people returned from Bosque Redondo in the 1870’s, large quantities of Pennsylvania pre-spun, pre-dyed wools (Germantown Yarns) were shipped to the Southwest and distributed to trading posts through the Navajo Reservation. These “Rainbow Yarns”, as they were sometimes called, sparked a Renaissance in Navajo Weavings.
